Choosing Between a Grandstand and General Admission in Baku

There are two honest ways to watch the Baku Grand Prix. You buy a seat in a grandstand, or you buy access and walk. The official ticket page calls the second one a Roaming Ticket, and that name describes it better than the phrase General Admission does.

RH Travel does not sell race tickets. This page exists because the choice affects everything else you plan, including where you stay and how you get in.

What a grandstand actually gives you

A reserved seat, in a fixed place, for the whole weekend. That is the product.

The value is certainty. You know where you are sitting on Saturday. You do not arrive early to claim a spot, and you do not lose your view when the area fills up.

The trade is that you see one part of the track very well and the rest on a screen. On a street circuit that is a real trade, because different corners give completely different racing.

What a Roaming Ticket gives you

Access to the circuit without a reserved seat. You move between the general viewing areas during the weekend.

The value is variety. Over three or four days you can watch from more than one place and work out which corner you actually like.

The cost is time and legs. Good spots fill early, especially for qualifying and the race itself. You will stand for long periods, and you will walk a lot in a city that is warm in September.

The named grandstands

The official page lists a long set of grandstands. City, Mugham, Sahil, Icheri Sheher, Azneft and Absheron in five blocks were available when we checked on 20 August 2026.

Filarmoniya, Giz Galasi, Bulvar, Khazar, Champions and Marine showed as sold out on the same day. A stand named Zafar was marked as coming soon.

Availability moves. Treat any list, including this one, as a snapshot with a date on it.

About the castle

People search for a castle viewing area, and it is worth being precise. Giz Galasi is the Azerbaijani name of the Maiden Tower in the Old City. There is a grandstand named after it.

It is a ticketed grandstand, not a free viewpoint from the old walls. On 20 August 2026 it showed as sold out. The official page does not describe any standing area at the fortress.

What comes with the ticket

Most tickets on the official page include more than a view. The listed inclusions are fan zone access, screens, a fan shop, food and drink areas, and a pit lane walk.

That matters for the comparison. A roaming ticket is not just a cheaper seat. It is a different weekend, built around moving through those areas rather than sitting in one.

How to choose

Choose a grandstand if you are travelling with children. Choose it if you want a guaranteed view of the start. Choose it if standing for six hours is not realistic for you.

Choose roaming if this is your first Grand Prix. Choose it if you want to see several corners. Choose it if the weekend is as much about the city as the racing.

Whatever you choose, buy from the official channel. Event tickets are a classic target for fake resale, and a race weekend in a sold-out city is not the moment to test a stranger’s honesty.

What this changes about your trip

A grandstand fixes your gate, which fixes your walk in, which fixes the hotel side of the track you want. Roaming leaves that open, so staying central matters more.

Either way, work out the walk before race day. Street closures decide how long it takes, and the answer is rarely the straight line on the map.
