Astara sits at the bottom of the country, on the border with Iran. This is Talysh country, and the air down there is nothing like the air in Baku.
People take this road for two reasons: the south itself, and the crossing.
The country changes as you go
You leave dry ground and arrive in wet ground.
The land around Baku is pale and open. The further south the road runs, the greener it gets, until there is tea on the hillsides and citrus in the gardens. It is the one part of Azerbaijan that looks tropical, and you can watch the change from the car window.
The hour we leave
Send your pick-up address in Baku and the date, and we agree the hour with you.
This is a long road, and a day on it is worth planning the evening before. Where you are staying moves the pick-up. So does what you want to do at the far end, and whether anybody in the car wants to stop along the way.
If the border is your reason for going
We drive you to Astara. We do not cross with you.
The crossing is run by two states and the rules there are theirs, not ours. Check what you need with the official authorities before you travel, and do not take a transfer company’s word for any part of it. What we can do is set you down on the right side with your bags, at a point we agree in advance.
Tell us when you book that the border is the plan. It decides where the drive ends, and that is worth being exact about.
Breaking the journey
Lankaran sits on this road, and it is the usual place to stop.
Ask for a stop when you book. Tea, lunch or a walk near the shore all fit, and the time goes into the plan while the figure goes into the quote. Say it before we quote rather than in the car, because a stop changes the shape of the day.
Rain is normal down there
The south is humid, and it rains in every season.
That is why it is green. Pack a light waterproof layer whatever the forecast says in Baku. The weather at the two ends of this road is not the same weather at all.
Bags and the vehicle
A sedan takes one large suitcase. Four people with cases want the minivan, and a group wants the minibus.
Send the passenger count and the bag count together. If you are walking across at the far end, tell us what you are carrying, because you will be carrying it yourself once we stop.
Payment
Cash, card, or bank transfer. Tell us when you book.
What we need to quote you
Your address in Baku, the date, and whether the border is part of the plan. Then how many of you there are, how many bags, and any stop you want on the way.

Common questions
Do you take us across the border into Iran?
No. We drive to Astara and set you down on this side. The crossing is run by two states, and the rules there are theirs rather than ours.
What do we need in order to cross?
Ask the official authorities before you travel. We move people by road, and border rules are not ours to state on a page like this.
What time do we leave Baku?
We agree it with you. Send your pick-up address and the date, and tell us what you plan to do at the far end of the road.
Is the weather really different from Baku?
Yes. The south is humid and green, and rain falls in every season. Bring a light waterproof layer whatever Baku looks like.
