Baku to Gobustan Transfer

Gobustan is two places on one trip. The carved rocks sit inside a reserve, and the mud volcanoes sit out on a plain beyond it.

That second half is why people book a car instead of a seat on a bus.

The volcano track is not a road

The reserve has a proper car park and a sealed approach.

The volcano field has neither. The last part of the way to it is a rough track, and an ordinary car is the wrong thing to put on it. Drivers hand that stretch over to a vehicle built for it, and you ride the last part in that.

The volcanoes are a yes or a no, and the answer changes the day.

Send your answer with the booking. A trip to the carvings alone is one plan. A trip that adds the volcano field is another one, with a second vehicle and a second set of arrangements inside it. We would rather build the right plan than change it at the gate.

The hour we leave

Send your pick-up address in Baku and the date, and we settle the hour with you.

Where you are staying moves it. So does the answer about the volcanoes. Most people ask for the morning here, because neither site has much shade and the slope holds the heat well into the afternoon.

The driver stays with the car

You walk the trail. The car does not follow you.

Your driver waits at the entrance while you are in the museum and on the slope. Coats, water and anything you would rather not carry stay in the car. Nobody is watching a meter while you look at the rocks.

Start at the museum

The building at the entrance is not a shop with a desk.

Go in before you walk the slope. It explains what the marks on the rocks are, and the trail is a different experience once you know. Your driver is waiting either way, so there is no reason to skip it.

Clay gets on everything

The volcano field is wet grey clay, and it sticks.

Wear shoes you can wash and bring a bag to put them in afterwards. Trousers get it too. This is not a warning about the car. It is a warning about your suitcase.

Coming with children

The short trail and the bubbling cones do the work here.

Child seats are available. Give us the age of each child when you book, so the right seat is fitted before the car leaves. Say whether the volcanoes are in the plan as well, because that last stretch is bumpier than the main road.

Vehicle and group

A sedan suits two people with light bags. Four with cases want the minivan, and a larger group wants the minibus.

Send the passenger count with the booking, and say whether the volcano field is included. The vehicle for the track is arranged separately from your own car.

What we need to quote you

Your address in Baku, the date, and a yes or no on the mud volcanoes. Then how many of you there are, and the ages of any children. With those we give you the current price.
