Lahij to Baku Transfer

Lahij is a village of stone lanes, and a car cannot always reach the door. The way back to Baku often starts on foot, with the bags.

The length of the road

About 180 kilometres back to Baku.

We do not put an hour figure beside that. Nobody has timed this run for us, and the road out of the village is mountain road, where a flat-country average would be wrong. Once we know your pick-up point, we settle the departure hour with you.

Where the car can wait

Several of the lanes are cobbled and narrow, and a car does not fit them.

Tell us the name of your guesthouse and we agree a meeting point the evening before. The driver waits at the nearest place a car can stand, and walks to find you rather than phoning. If somebody in the group walks slowly, say so. We will pick the closest point instead of the easiest one.

Copper travels badly

People buy copper here, and it is heavier and softer than it looks.

Ask the workshop to wrap it, and tell us you have it when you book. Metal and glass ride flat in the boot, not on a seat. The same is true of anything you are carrying in a box, and of jars.

The mountain section comes first

The road out of the village turns and drops before it meets the main road.

That stretch shapes the morning more than anything after it. Rain, mist or a slow lorry all change how it goes, which is another reason we do not hand one hour to everybody. In winter we check it on the day and tell you what we find.

Choosing when to leave

Two shapes of day work on this road, and they suit different people.

Leaving early suits anyone with something fixed in Baku that evening. Leaving later suits anyone who wants one more walk through the lanes and a quiet start. Tell us which one you want, with your pick-up point, and we name the hour.

Your hotel in Baku, your own door, or the airport.

An airport drop is a different sum. The airport is east of the city, and this road comes in from the west, so it deserves its own margin. If you are flying, send the flight number and time when you book.

The road passes places worth getting out of the car for.

Ask for a stop when you book. We put the time into the plan and the figure into the quote. If you have a flight the same day, we keep the stops short and say why.
