The road home from Sheki is the longest of our northern runs. Most people leave it until the last morning, and then find the day is tighter than they thought.
The length of the road
About 330 kilometres, west to east across the country.
We do not put a fixed drive time on this one. The road runs down out of the foothills and then across open country, and the day depends on the weather and on how many times you stop. Send us your date and we will name an hour for it.
The last morning in town
The palace and the old fortress take a real morning, not twenty minutes.
If you want that morning, plan a later start and expect to reach Baku in the evening. If you have a flight, we work the other way around: the flight sets the hour, and whatever fits before it is what you see. We will tell you plainly which of the two you are choosing.
Going home heavier than you came
Sheki sends people home with food. Halva in boxes, honey in jars, sometimes silk.
Say what you are carrying when you book. Glass and boxes go in the boot, flat and upright, not stacked on a seat for four hours. A sedan takes one large suitcase. Three or four bags need the minivan, and a group needs the minibus.
Where the car waits
Some of the old quarter is narrow, and not every lane takes a car to the door.
Tell us the name of your hotel and we agree the spot the evening before. If the lane is closed, the driver waits at the nearest corner your bags can reach, and comes to find you rather than waiting for a phone call.
Breaking the road
On a road this long a stop is not a luxury. It is how the day stays comfortable.
Lunch on the way is normal, and so is a stop for the children. Tell us at the time of booking and the time goes into the plan and the figure into the quote. With a flight the same evening we keep the stops short and say why.
Where we set you down
Your hotel in Baku, your own door, or straight to the airport.
An airport run needs its own margin, so tell us the flight number when you book. We would rather build the whole day around it than arrive and find out.
Payment
Cash, card, or bank transfer. Tell us when you book.
What we need to quote you
Your hotel in Sheki, the date, and the hour you want to leave. If you are catching a flight, send that instead. Then how many of you there are, and how many bags and boxes. With those we give you the current price.

We cannot give an exact price without your date, passenger count and luggage. Send those and we will confirm the current price.
Common questions
How long does the road home take?
We do not publish one figure for it. The road is about 330 kilometres and the day depends on the weather and your stops. Send your date and we name the hour.
Can we see the palace and still get back the same day?
Often yes, but it is a long day. Tell us the flight time first. If the two do not fit, we would rather tell you than drive it and hope.
How do we carry halva and honey home?
Pack them flat and tell us you have them. Glass and boxes ride in the boot, not on a lap. It is a long road and things move.
Where does the driver wait in Sheki?
At your hotel door, or by the caravanserai gate if the lane is closed to cars. We agree the exact spot the evening before.
