Azerbaijan Visa for Turkish Citizens: Visa-Free for 90 Days

Turkish citizens do not need a visa for Azerbaijan. You can stay up to 90 days on a valid passport. There is no form to fill in and no fee to pay at the border. This page explains the year-round rule, the one registration step for long stays, and what F1 visitors should know.

Azerbaijan’s official tourism portal confirms it for Turkish citizens: visa-free, up to 90 days, with a valid identity document.

The rule, from the official list

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs keeps a table of visa-free countries. Türkiye sits in the second group. That group is based on bilateral agreements and works both ways. It covers any valid passport that both states accept for crossing the border. So ordinary, service and diplomatic passports are all included.

The period listed for Türkiye is 90 days. Heydar Aliyev International Airport also lists Turkey among the visa-free countries.

Because entry is visa-free, Türkiye does not appear on the e-visa country list. If a website offers you an “Azerbaijan e-visa” for a Turkish passport, you do not need it. Keep your money.

What to carry

Visa-free does not mean paper-free. Carry these:

1. A valid Turkish passport.
2. Your hotel booking or the address where you will stay.
3. Your return or onward ticket.
4. A payment card and a little cash in manats.

Keep digital copies of the booking and ticket on your phone. Make sure they open without mobile data. Border staff may ask why you are visiting and for how long. Short, clear answers and a booking to show make that simple.

Registration after 15 days

This is the one rule that catches long-stay guests. Foreign visitors who stay more than 15 days must register their place of stay. You do this within 15 days of arrival. It costs nothing. The State Migration Service explains how to apply and has a deadline calculator.

If you move to a new address, you must register again within 5 working days. There is one exception. If the same owner moves you to another flat they own, you do not re-register.

A holiday of a week or ten days never reaches this point. It matters for visitors who come for a month, stay with family or tour the regions slowly. If that is you, mark day 15 in your calendar.

Longer stays, work and study

The 90-day visa-free period suits tourism and family visits. Work and study are different questions. Ask the Azerbaijani embassy about the right visa before you travel. Do not assume visa-free entry covers a job.

Coming for a future Baku Grand Prix

Some visitors first plan Baku around the Formula 1 race. For the 2026 race, Azerbaijan made a special visa rule. A presidential order of 25 August 2026 let race visitors get a visa at the international airports. They showed an F1 ticket, an e-ticket or accreditation. The window was set from 25 August to 30 September 2026.

That order was for nationalities that normally need a visa. Turkish citizens were visa-free already, so it made no difference to them. The same will be true of any similar rule for a later race. For a Turkish passport, the ordinary 90-day rule is what matters.

Race weeks still need planning. Hotels fill early and roads near the street circuit close. Book your stay first, then plan how you will reach your grandstand from it.

From the airport into the city

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) is Baku’s main airport. The Aero Express bus runs 24 hours a day. The airport says the ride to the last stop takes about 30 minutes. Traffic can change that.

A booked car is simpler after a late landing or with a family. RH Travel can meet you with a name board. You choose the meeting point: arrivals hall, exit or car park. Beyond Baku

Ninety days leaves plenty of room to see more than the capital. You could add Sheki, Gabala or Guba to a Baku stay. If your trip grows past 15 days, remember the registration step. Everything else about entry stays the same.
