Your Baku F1 Arrival Checklist

A clear arrival checklist keeps a Baku F1 weekend from becoming a series of small travel decisions. In 2026 the race weekend ran from Thursday 24 September to Saturday 26 September. When the organiser publishes the next dates, check them first. Before leaving home, work through the entry, ticket, hotel and arrival details in order.

1. Confirm entry permission

Start with the standard Azerbaijan e-visa route unless an official race-specific announcement changes it. A special decree applied to Grand Prix ticket holders in 2025. Treat any such arrangement as tied to its own year unless an official source says otherwise. Check the official e-visa portal for your current requirements. Do not treat a past race arrangement as a present rule.

2. Keep ticket and hotel details together

Buy or review race tickets through bakucitycircuit.com. Save the ticket details and the hotel address offline. This matters on a street-circuit weekend, because the route to the correct gate may not be the one a general map suggests.

Choose the hotel area with the stand in mind. Sahil and the Old City can suit a walking-oriented plan around the circuit. Fountain Square, the Nizami Street corridor and White City offer other central options. Do not expect a car to reach every circuit entrance.

3. Arrange the airport journey

Heydar Aliyev Airport is about 20 km from central Baku. For a private arrival transfer, share the flight, hotel area, guest count and luggage. The driver can meet you with a name board in the arrivals hall, at the exit or in the car park. There is no time limit on waiting until you come out. That helps when bags or entry checks take longer than expected.

A sedan is right for one large bag, while a minivan can take up to four. Ask for a child seat when needed. Aero Express minibuses and city buses are the public transport options, with the city bus fare at 0.20 AZN.

4. Prepare for circuit access

There is no venue parking. Road closures operate around the circuit on race days, and taxis or rideshares cannot drive to entrances. Plan to use a designated drop-off point, then walk through the footbridges or underpasses. Note your ticketed gate and agree a meeting point with companions before entering.

5. Keep the last decisions open

Carry cash in AZN alongside the payment method you prefer. Decide in advance whether the race is followed by an airport departure, another Baku night, Gabala or Guba. In 2026 the race was on a Saturday, so departure plans needed more thought than on a usual Sunday-race weekend. Check the race day for your year before you book.

Make the fixed parts work first

Treat the ticket, hotel address and arrival time as the fixed parts of the trip. Then allow room for the city to work differently during a street-race weekend. The roads around the circuit close on race days. The most useful plan is one that still works when the final walk is longer than expected.
