Baku works well for a three-day visit when the city and the peninsula are planned as separate days. The compact old core is easy to explore on foot, while Gobustan and the Absheron sights need travel and more time. This plan leaves room for both instead of turning every stop into a rushed photo.

Day 1: Start in the Old City

Begin in Icherisheher, Baku’s walled Old City. The Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs are the landmarks most guests look for, but the lanes themselves are the point. Wear shoes for uneven stone and leave time to stop rather than follow a strict minute-by-minute route.

Move outward to the waterfront when the heat eases. Baku Boulevard runs along the Caspian, and it gives a useful change from the enclosed streets of the old quarter. This first day is also the right time to check the next day’s car and pickup time.

Day 2: Modern Baku and a city view

Use the second day for the city beyond the walls. The Flame Towers form Baku’s best-known modern skyline. Their appearance changes from different viewpoints, so choose one place to see them rather than spending the day moving between distant photo stops.

Day 3: Gobustan and the Absheron peninsula
